Health Estates Agency

The Health Estates Agency is part of Northern Ireland’s Department of Health, Social Services & Public Safety.

Health Estates was established as an Executive Agency of the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety, on 2 October 1995 as the only body in Northern Ireland with recognised expertise in all aspects of the Health and Social Services (HSS) estate.

In May 2002 the Northern Ireland Executive approved a new public procurement policy for the public sector in Northern Ireland.  Under this policy Health Estates was formally accredited as the ‘Centre of Procurement Expertise’ (COPE) for construction and design services for the Department and the Health and Personal Social Services (HPSS).
