EuHPN 2013 Workshop: Budapest 7-9 October

Reinventing the Hospital: Europe’s Challenge

The European Health Property Network has been bringing together health policy makers, health system planners, health estates professionals, capital investment experts, healthcare architects and academics for the past 13 years. This year we returned to Budapest, the city that last hosted our annual workshop in 2006, to discuss and debate the best ways to confront and solve the challenges that face healthcare infrastructure across Europe.  We addressed a number of themes:

  • The scale and scope of hospitals: using evidence and tools to create a sustainable future
  • Designing for high risk environments
  • Front-end planning and post-project evaluation
  • Sustainable hospitals: changing procurement practices; creating energy systems for the future
  • Integrating hospitals services with other areas of health and social care

The workshop programme is can be downloaded here.  We will be posting a report on the workshop in the coming weeks, and this will be available to all from our website.

The Budapest 2013 workshop was a great success, with over 90 participants from 15 different European countries. We are grateful to our workshop sponsors GYEMSZI (National Institute for Quality- and Organizational Development in Healthcare and Medicines) and Wochna Medical Kft, and to our hosts HSMTC (Health Services Management Training Centre, Semmelweis University) for their generous support, and to the local hospital managers and clinicians who hosted the study tour that took place on the last afternoon of the workshop.
